As far as cats went, he was not graceful ... nor clever and cunning, nor exceptionally stealthy. He was a gentle spirit, intelligent, but lacking severely in the common sense arena, and though he had fur and claws just like the rest, he was anything but ordinary. For a cat, his lack of grace and cunning were unusual, a hassle to him and a joke to the rest. Moonfall wasn't good at much, in fact the only thing he was really good at, he hated more than anything; being alone. When it came to being alone, well, it wasn't anything new to the young warrior, as he had drifted from all of his friends long ago. While he was accustomed to leading a companionless life, he despised every moment of it.
Once, he had been happy; friends and family surrounded him constantly. He had his parents, Duskstar and Morningfrost to care for him ... but they left him. His siblings, his cousins .... all gone. In all honesty, the only company he had had in moons was the occasional visit from his cousin, Sedgepelt. At least he hadn't been completely forgotten, but seriously, did StarClan wish this upon him? From one of the pools of liquid sunlight that lit up the plains around him, he took a drink. Slow, meaningful, quenching. If only all the beauty of the world could be put into the heart of one cat, just one cat made specifically for him. No, no, he didn't even need all of that, just a friend. But with so few felines in the Clan at this moment, the odds were low. Perhaps it was time for Moonfall to accept his fate, and begin to live with the fact that he'd be alone forever.

The lake lay calm, perfect. It seemed so still and perfect, yet Shadowstream stood amongst it. The scenery and everything around trees, the lake, around here always seemed the same way, the trees protected it from wind and the lake always lay still. It seemed mysterious and different, but it was always the same, the same being different. He was confusing himself at the point he had made, yet he knew what he meant. Wether anyone else ever thought the same was different. The feel around the perfect-scene, it was so perfect it just needed something. His serious look turned to smile as his eyes lit up, excitement, no calm equivalent to the scene that surrounded him. A cold shiver crept over him, he paused just before he was about to make his massive scene.

The sound of another’s approach caused Wavepool’s rushing stream of thoughts to suddenly hault. A gust of wind, only barely stronger than the breeze, carried the scent of ThunderClan to Wavepool’s nose, along with it the knowledge that his companion was female. Her scent was familiar—these days, Wavepool never met a stranger within his own Clan—but still, he couldn’t quite place who it belonged to. The snowshoe tom’s eyes remained closed for a moment as he allowed the cool winter breeze to blow over his face, soothing his features; when it stopped, the sun shone warmly on his tall figure.
Wavepool’s bright blue eyes had closed only momentarily, but when he opened them again, he was met with the lavender-blue gaze of a she-cat who was only vaguely familiar to him. Wavepool knew that ThunderClan had many members, but shouldn’t he have known this femme? He knew everyone, now, it seemed, since he’d become ThunderClan deputy. By now, he was preparing to become ThunderClan leader, but still, that knowledge did not come complete with the she-cat’s name.
‘Damn,’ the tall warrior thought to himself. She had a soft, understated beauty about her, and even by simply looking in her eyes, he could tell she was even more timid than he was. It took him a moment, but soon enough, words returned to him. “Hello,” Wavepool greeted in return, smiling warmly at the pretty she-cat. He thought for a moment more, searched his mind for a name to match with her face, and it came to him that her name was Dreamtale. ‘Dreamtale. That’s right…what a pretty name.’ It was fitting, he thought, of a pretty she-cat.
This train of thought gave Wavepool pause. He was male, of course, and he recognized beauty when he saw it, but it was the way he thought it that alarmed him. The last she-cat he’d thought about beauty in this context with had been Roaringbrook, many, many seasons ago, when he’d still been an apprentice about to receive his warrior name. He knew where this was going and spoke again so as to distract himself before his train of thought could continue. “I’m glad you joined me. I’ve been a bit lonely out here,” he spoke fondly, his words warm like springtime sun as he smiled and awaited a response.

Pantherclaw smiled. The expression was slightly nervous and she was almost positive this emotion showed through, but her mind was buzzing too loudly to notice. Not strange? ‘Hah,’ the newly-RiverClan warrior thought to herself. ‘Who is he kidding?’ It was hard to have the experiences Pantherclaw had had and not walk out of it all a little wonky, but she didn’t mind. Her circuits were still firing smoothly enough, and that was what mattered.
“I don’t blame you,” Pantherclaw replied, a hint of a laugh decorating her tone. “You were focused on hunting, so I wouldn’t have expected you to see me coming.” Pantherclaw knew she wasn’t silent when she ran, but months and months of hunting as a WindClan cat hunts made her quiet enough when she ran. She was hard to detect, that was for sure, both because of her colouring and becaue of the style of training she’d received growing up in WindClan.
When the conversation changed directions, the Bengal she-act took the change with grace. The slight pause as her companion spoke and the distaste in his tone over the subject of prejudices didn’t escape her. “They haven’t been unkind to me at all,” Pantherclaw said with a smile. In fact, Saberstar had been perfectly pleasant with her—Bluecrest had recognized her and treated her with the reverence with which one treats a returning ghost from the past. “In fact, they’ve been more hospitable than they’ve needed to be. After all, I’m not only a foreigner—I was once the leader of WindClan, so if anyone would adjust roughly to life in another Clan, it would be me,” Pantherclaw explained. “However, I suppose my particular circumstance makes me an exception in more ways than one.” Her friendly tone carried a trace of a bitter sort of humour, but it wasn’t presented negatively, per se.
Still, Blazeteller’s tone as he spoke to her echoed in her mind. What had happened that had made him embittered toward the subject? Pantherclaw had no idea and wasn’t about to ask, since it not only wasn’t her place but she’d just met the tom, for StarClan’s sake. She held her tongue and waited for a response with the patience that came with experience.

It was so easy to feel like you are alone, without a hand to hold. She always felt that way. Eventually, though, sadness will fill you so much that you will let it all out. And everything would change for you.
But she was what happened if all of the sadness was never let out, hoping, wishing, that one day she would find out who she needed. She was alone. But there was something much more important that kept her awake.
She shut her eyes, wondering for a moment if her dreams would really come true. Her dreams were always beautiful. But she never thought she was beautiful. The only time she had ever thought she was beautiful she wasn't completely sane. But in her dreams, she was always beautiful. In a perfect world, she never felt alone. She never felt lonely. . .
She shut her eyes, and she was in StarClan.
For the first time, she was truly beautiful.
She was as beautiful as she could be. Through and through, everything was perfect. But in was only a dream, and in that dream, there was a face that she couldn't quite see. . . He couldn't quite see her either. . .
Her dreams were fading, though, so quickly that she could never, ever, catch them. She couldn't find the way out, but by the time her eyes opened, the face was clear. Dreamtale closed them again for only a moment. She was a painter, an artist of sorts, and because of this, her stained paws could never find anyone to hold her and keep her warm.
She was so cold. . .
Almost in a whisper, she smiled at him as her paws brought her closer.
"Hello." She spoke, breathing out softly as her forget-me-not blue eyes shyly found their way to find his.

The grey and black tom smiled. He had only been running a by choice few times, but he did enjoy the feeling. Lately he had taken to walks, however. Sometimes in the forest -he seemed to feel more at home in the darker parts than most of his clanmates- and occaisionally by the river, but today his walk had brought him here to hunt. And it seemed Pantherclaw's run had done the same. "You're not strange. Running for fun is not only for WindClan. I suppose I could have guessed your birthclan from your speed. Its almost embarrassing really, I never saw you coming." No matter how he tried, Blaze could not wipe the smile off his face. Thankfully it wasn't a giddy grin or any sort of smirk, just an everyday friendly smile. Except that it filled his eyes too instead of just raising the corners of his mouth. The pretty Bengal sounded as though she had been having a rough time with the RiverClan cats, and the ginger-footed tom didn't think anyone should have to deal with their prejudice. It wasn't fun. He would know.
After a slight pause, he continued. "I hope RiverClan hasn't been too unkind to you. They don't usually take nicely to... unfamiliar blood." Blazeteller was reluctant to mention his mixed heritage. Not so soon in a potential friendship. He had never met a cat who hadn't looked at him any differently after they found out he was half ShadowClan. So many lost friends... please don't let it happen again, StarClan. He prayed, silently.
Blazeteller slowly waved his tail in the air, the black tip standing out against the brown grasses and light blue sky. Momentarily glancing down toward his mouse then back up into Pantherclaw's green eyes, he lowered his tail, letting it twitch a little at the end as it lay in the grass. Blazeteller's own eyes were glowing. He may have found a friend at last.
Sometimes you have to swallow your pride in order to gain it back with twice as much respect, and other times you have to break the rules to make things right.
